How HealthVault works for device manufacturers

HealthVault can help device manufacturers grow their business by giving consumers new reasons to use their products. Users can move their data from a device to the Web, share it with others and use it in various applications that can connect with HealthVault.

Uploading data

By downloading and installing HealthVault Connection Center, a free program that runs with Windows, users can upload data from compatible devices to a HealthVault record. Manufacturers can participate by offering HealthVault-compatible device drivers and by becoming part of the HealthVault device logo program .

Using uploaded data

Once users have their device data in their HealthVault record, they can share it with friends, family members, healthcare providers and HealthVault-compatible applications. Manufacturers can expand their potential market by offering end-to-end solutions that enable users not just to read their data, but to find new ways to act on it.

Discovering devices

HealthVault lists compatible health and fitness devices in device directories for consumers and industry and in Live Search Health results.

Intended Use. Information from a HealthVault account can supplement information available to healthcare providers from other sources and provide a more complete picture of the patient's health. However, the information in HealthVault accounts is controlled by the individual, and is not intended to be a substitute for medical records. Information from HealthVault should not be used by health care providers to make treatment decisions without independent evaluation, and only after being copied into the healthcare provider’s own system.
