Laboratories & imaging centers

How HealthVault works for laboratories and imaging centers

Laboratories can connect with Microsoft HealthVault to deliver portable, digitally signed lab results directly to patients, not just to their caregivers.

Deliver results to patients

Laboratories can add lab results to patients’ digital health records in HealthVault, if permitted under applicable law. Results can be digitally signed as evidence of authenticity. Patients can leverage data from lab results in health applications that work with HealthVault. This can increase the value of lab results for consumers and enable them to ask their healthcare providers more informed questions. It can also help patients keep a history of their lab results and compare them over time.

Increase awareness

Live Search Health can help labs increase consumer awareness of self-referral services, including innovative services like genetic testing.

Intended Use. Information from a HealthVault account can supplement information available to healthcare providers from other sources and provide a more complete picture of the patient's health. However, the information in HealthVault accounts is controlled by the individual, and is not intended to be a substitute for medical records. Information from HealthVault should not be used by health care providers to make treatment decisions without independent evaluation, and only after being copied into the healthcare provider’s own system.
