Connection Center is a utility you can use to add data to health records in your HealthVault account from health and fitness devices such as heart rate monitors, blood pressure monitors, peak flow meters, and glucometers.

When you use Connection Center, data from your device is imported into your computer and then uploaded to HealthVault. You can view the data in HealthVault Connection Center before and after uploading it.

What devices work with HealthVault Connection Center?

HealthVault Connection Center works with health and fitness devices that can be connected to your computer, such as:

  • Blood pressure monitors
  • Heart-rate monitors (such as the kind you wear on your wrist when exercising)
  • Respiratory measurement devices (spirometers, also known as "peak flow meters")
  • Blood glucose monitors
  • And many other types of devices

Some of these devices connect directly to your computer through the USB or serial port; others communicate with the computer using an infrared or other wireless receiver.

Adding a HealthVault-compatible device driver for your device to your computer

Before HealthVault Connection Center can import data from your health or fitness device, you must add a "driver" for the device to your computer. The driver allows your device to communicate with HealthVault Connection Center and displays an icon for your device in the "Devices enabled for HealthVault Connection Center" list in the Devices and Programs screen.

To add a HealthVault-compatible driver for your device to your computer:

1. On the HealthVault Connection Center Getting Started screen, click Enable a device.

At the top of the HealthVault Connection Center window, click Enable a device. You will see the online HealthVault Devices Directory..
2. Look for your device manufacturer in the list and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the appropriate driver.
