How HealthVault works for tool providers
In HealthVault, tool providers have an open platform that can provide their end users with data storage, security features and authentication. This allows application providers to focus their resources on bringing a compelling user experience to market more quickly.
Easier access to data
Making it easy for users to enter their data is one of the hardest parts of building a health tool. HealthVault helps application providers get over this hurdle. Users can easily collect health data from other tools, devices, lab tests and other sources, and share it with other HealthVault-compatible applications, instead of having to enter data separately for each application.
Visibility in context
Users can discover HealthVault-compatible tools in several contexts, including the HealthVault.com site, HealthVault Connection Center and Live Search Health.

Intended Use. Information from a HealthVault account can supplement information available to healthcare providers from other sources and provide a more complete picture of the patient's health. However, the information in HealthVault accounts is controlled by the individual, and is not intended to be a substitute for medical records. Information from HealthVault should not be used by health care providers to make treatment decisions without independent evaluation, and only after being copied into the healthcare provider's own system.
